EVERY Saturday afternoon, there is a pasar malam in Tanjung Malim town from afternoon till late at night.

As there is heavy traffic everywhere in the town, especially along Jalan Dato Keranji and at the Jalan Besar junction, a worker from the Tanjung Malim District Council risks his life directing traffic.

The police, who should be doing this job, are usually to be found along Jalan Loke Yew or near the motorcycle flyover looking for errant motorcyclists. Very often, there are four policemen at these places.

Are the police chiefs of Tanjung Malim and Slim River, and the head of the Tanjung Malim District Council aware of this matter?

My question is this: Who is going to be responsible for the life of this man if he gets knocked down by a vehicle?

Rightly speaking, this job of directing the traffic should be done by the police and not by a worker from the Tanjung Malim District Council.
