Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
Dear Editor, OF late, there has been an increasing disregard for traffic rules in Brickfields.
Many residents have written to newspapers to highlight these problems.
Unfortunately, all have come to nought due to lack of enforce ment.
Among the issues raised are the following:
- Teenagers and adults riding mo torcycles without helmets;
- Making illegal U-turns at traffic lights, causing traffic disruption;
- Haphazard and double parking along Jalan Tun Sambanthan.
Jalan Tun Sambanthan is a two-lane road and illegal parking reduces it into a single lane.
As a result, buses are unable to stop at bus stops. The most prob lematic stop is the one opposite KL Sentral and next to the KL Monorail station.
Driving against the traffic flow has also become a common prac tice among motorcyclists and motorists.
This is evident in Jalan Thamby Abdullah, next to the Sri Kota supermarket, where traffic from Bangsar and Kuala Lumpur flow into Brickfields.
The last time these grievances were reported, the authorities took action, but only briefly.
I hope that the authorities can find a permanent solution to this problem.
