WITH reference to the query by John T.L. of Masai (Is this proper?” — NST, Jan 11), I think that the staff member in the dental clinic should not be carrying out the scaling and polishing. The dentist should be the one and only person doing all the treatment.
Many patients have come to my clinic and have complained to me and my nurse about this. They have asked me whether it is proper or is it allowed for the staff member to do any dental scaling.
I hope that the District General Medical and Dental Services will act against this dentist, as this is giving all dental surgeons a bad name.
