Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
I AGREE with S.M. of Petaling Jaya (”It will keep squatters away” — NST, Jan 30) that an invasion of squatters would have far worse effects on the Gasing area than development. The poor sanitation, waste disposal, drainage and open-burning by squatters all contribute to environmental pollution.
However, concerns about environmental issues may be superficial compared to the social issues that may arise in squatter areas.
With the increasing crime rate and kidnap cases of children, I worry about my children every time they go out to play. As a parent, I want my children to grow up in a good and safe neighbourhood.
If the developer has fulfilled all regulatory requirements and commits to being a responsible developer, he should be given a fair chance to build on Bukit Gasing.
