THE suggestion by M.Z.A. of Kuala Lumpur that Malaysia should look to the African states to help improve our soccer skills raises a few questions (”Better to study African teams” - NST , Feb 11).

M.Z.A. was of the opinion that using English Premier League stars would not help raise the standard of Malaysian football.

His alternative plan was to look towards the African nations and learn from their success on the international football scene.

It is rather ironic that the man who revolutionised African football is the same man the Football Association of Malaysia had deemed incapable of coaching the Malaysian national football team.

Remember Claude Le Roy, anyone?
