Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
Dear Editor, I AM writing to highlight the inefficiency of City Hall in con trolling illegal hawkers, despite the many written complaints.
The illegal hawkers along Jalan Galloway, 500m away from the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters, cause the following problems:
- The hawkers play loud music into the early hours of the morning, causing a nuisance.
- Customers park their cars on the roadside, obstructing traffic.
- Drains are clogged with rub bish.
Residents have been submitting complaint letters, along with pictures, to City Hall since May 21 last year.
On July 3 and 7 last year, a City Hall vehicle was seen parked near the illegal hawkers.
These hawkers stalls should not be operating. Add to that, two more illegal hawkers have joined them recently and toilets have been built.
As a result, human waste flow directly into the drains.
The hawker stalls are near a Syabas main water pipe, creating a possibility for contamination of the water supply.
We hope action will be taken against these hawkers before the area turns into a haven for illegal eateries.
Amy
