Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
RADIO Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), being a national TV station, should strive to be fair with regard to choosing programmes.
Practically all the Chinese entertainment programmes shown over RTM are in Cantonese.
Almost 70 per cent of Malaysian Chinese do not understand Cantonese. Why should they be left out?
If RTM insists on showing Cantonese programmes, then they should also consider programmes in other major dialects such as Hokkien.
We must not be selfish.
Is Malaysia going backwards while other countries are striving to promote the use of Mandarin, just as we are doing for English?
It is also disappointing for many who want to learn or improve their command of Mandarin.
