Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
Dear Editor,
I READ with interest your article yesterday, ‘Graduate turned drug dealer’.
I do not know whether to feel sorry or not for the graduate for being arrested for drug possession. Was he so desperate to make ends meet that he had to get involved in drugs? Circumstances could have made him feel that the only way out of his dilemma was to turn to crime. I can understand how desperation, especially for the unemployed, can lead one to commit crimes. The desperation to have a decent meal and a roof over his head must have pushed him to turn to drug dealing. As an educated man, he must have weighed the consequences, but desperation seems to have got the better of him. Making choices in life is difficult and I hope he realises his mistakes and faces the consequences with courage.
