Dear Editor,
ON March 7, my brother and I took an express bus from Kuala Lumpur to Kampar at midnight from the Pudu Raya bus terminal.

Throughout the journey, the driver was speeding on the fast lane and overtaking other vehicles in a dangerous manner. The driver later stopped at Tapah to allow some passengers to get down. As I have been using this particular company’s services for the past seven years, I always get down at my housing area, which is 2km away from Tapah. All this while, the drivers are always willing to accommodate my request. There is ample space for buses and lorries to stop in front of my housing area. As we were nearing my house, my brother approached the driver to request him to stop. My brother received a rude reply full of expletives asking us why we did not get down at Tapah town itself. The driver was adamant and said that there was no bus stop in front of my house and sped past my housing area. My brother tried to reason by pointing at a bus stop further up and requesting that the driver stop there. The driver, who was still ranting and raving, made a sudden stop in front of the said bus stop. My brother got down first. As I was not satisfied, I turned around and asked him, “Why are you behaving rudely and what is your name?” He then accelerated and pulled the emergency brake with the intention of hurting me. I managed to grab the railing at the door. Realising that I had not fallen down, he tried again. This time, I managed to jump out of the bus. The driver sped off. Shaken and traumatised, I lodged a police report. I hope maniacs like this are not allowed to be trusted with the lives of thousands of bus passengers.
