Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
I WOULD like to highlight the increasingly rampant usage of high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights by motorists.
It was announced last year by the Road Transport Department that the use of such lights is prohibited. I applauded the move to outlaw the usage of these “killer” headlights but I have yet to see any evidence of a decline in their usage.
If anything, the announcement seems to have emboldened more motorists to mount these lamps.
Not only are these lights an eyesore because of their exceptional glare, they also cause motor-vehicle accidents as they distract or hamper the driver in the oncoming car from seeing the road.
HID headlights offer no significant advantage in terms of night-time visibility over the conventional headlights and its usage is nothing short of sheer inconsideration.
I propose that the sale of HID headlamps be outlawed as well.
