Dear Editor,
WE refer to a letter by Lau Bing, ‘KTM must clean up act’, on March 20.

KTM Berhad would like to thank Lau Bing for the feedback and for using our services. We have taken note of Lau Bing ’s comments regarding the condition of the toilets on the train and have directed our staff to clean them more frequently. As smoking is prohibited in the toilets, apart from frequent checks by our staff to curb this, we will put up notices to remind passengers to refrain from smoking in the toilets. The toilet in Tanjung Pagar station may appear messy as the entire station is currently under renovation. In the meantime, our staff are doing their best to maintain the cleanliness amidst the construction works. With regards to the faulty sliding doors, we would like to inform our passengers that at present, KTM Berhad is undergoing an overhaul project for all 200 of our inter-city coaches. This project, which started in July last year, involves a complete refurbishment of the coach’s interior, including the sliding doors and toilets. The pillows and bed sheets on sleeper coaches will also be changed in stages during this project. We have also revised our timetable so that the train will depart Singapore at 9pm. This will enable the train to arrive in Kuala Lumpur early in the morning so that passengers will have ample time to attend to their business appointments. With regards to the KTM Komuter counter’s operating hours, we operate from 6.15am to 11pm daily and our notices at Sentral KL indicate as such. In the future, passengers like Lau Bing can buy the KTM Komuter ticket at vending machines after the counter’s operating hours. KTM Berhad realises our shortcomings and will strive continuously to improve our services. We hope all our passengers will be able to enjoy greater comfort while travelling on KTM Berhad in the future.
