Dear Editor,
MANY countries are competing with each other in their pursuit to be a developed nation.

Japan is one of the world’s most developed nation, particularly in the technology sector. How did they do it? The answer is that they have quality human resources, which includes their younger generation. What about Malaysia? What is the quality of our younger generation? Are they fully prepared to face the challenges of adulthood and lead the country to greater heights? To be a developed nation, we must improve and change the mindset of our younger generation as it is crucial for them to have a positive attitude. Attitude can shape our behaviour and with good behaviour, we can build quality members of the community who can later lead the country. Teenagers with good discipline are free from attitude problems. They must be brave enough to face all challenges and must not give up easily. This can help them to move forward. Also important is the power of knowledge. Teenagers must learn to take advantage of opportunities that come their way to gain knowledge. With knowledge, we can create new technologies to help our country compete with other nations. Unity is also important. If we want to be a developed nation, as well as being a multiracial country, we need to work together to achieve our goals. We must teach our youths to be caring and loving. They should respect each other, regardless of their background. They should not have any ill-feeling towards others. We must remember that the younger generation holds the key to the country’s future.
