Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
WHEN Karpal Singh was detained under the Internal Security Act during Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s premiership, he was admitted to Ipoh Hospital because he’s diabetic. His brother, the late Manjit who was also a lawyer, approached my daughter to ask me whether I could speak to Mahathir about his request to transfer Karpal Singh to Penang Hospital which had better facilities for diabetics.
Mahathir was in Alor Star with Tun Daim Zainuddin at that time. I informed Mahathir in front of Daim and asked whether he could consider Manjit’s request.
Mahathir told me that he would check first.
A few days later, Manjit asked my daughter to convey his “thanks” to me because Karpal Singh was transferred to Penang Hospital.
With respect to all parties concerned, this is my little untold story.
