The article written by S.M. MOHAMED IDRIS (for Consumers Association of Penang and Sahabat Alam Malaysia) in reply to my 1st article (published in the NST 18 April 2008) lacks international scientific support and logic.

He relies on a single report that he himself knew was not representative of the world scientific community across the board.

As stated in my 1st article, and i repeat here again for the sake of clarity and fair comment, that 'the public must be given a choice to decide for themselves and consumerism efforts, if any, lies in promoting fair public education and awareness.'

I am still of the opinion that GMCs provides a 'viable answer' to world hunger and food shortages.

I would encourage people to be objective about GM foods. I refuse to believe that there is nothing good in GM crops. Unfortunately, the anti-technology activists have made the world, through deception that GM crops are a threat to human beings. I have no problem with people who criticize biotech companies like Monsanto ( http://www.monsanto.com/biotech-gmo/) and Dupont. They are entitled to their views. But I encourage them to be constructive in their criticism. Let's offer criticism that's based on science and not emotions.
