Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
Dear Editor, METAL thieves blacked out almost the whole of Sabah last Monday for a mere RM40.
By removing steel pieces from a transmission tower, which could probably be worth only RM40 in scrap value, they triggered a major power black out in most parts of Sabah lasting nearly six hours.
What happened in Sabah could also happen in Peninsular Malaysia.
In the past, there have been attempts by vandals and thieves to remove metal pieces from transmission towers and sell them as scrap metal.
Authorities need to beef up security at all transmission towers to prevent similar occurrences, which can cause havoc and also have serious implications on our economy.
We have to be proactive in preventing metal theft at our transmission towers.
