Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
I CHANCED upon the attached Kenyataan Kemasukan Peperiksaan Penilaian Menengah Rendah 2007 in my son’s school folder. For agama: the declaration made was “Bukan Islam”.
Perhaps the Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia could enlighten us on this.
I am very disappointed and disturbed to note that our Education Department recognises only one religion in our multiracial and multireligious country: you are either “Islam” or “Bukan Islam”.
What about Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Taoism and other religions?
Are the people working in the Education Department so ignorant that they only classify a person’s religion as either Islam or bukan Islam?
I am sure my son would have said “Catholic” to the agama query.
