Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
I REFER to the complaint by D.K.D. of Kulai that the arts are being neglected in schools (”Too much focus on exams” — NST, May 22).
I agree with the writer that the education system has become too exam-oriented.
It is high time we brought back arts education into schools.
It is a pity that our children are being shaped into individuals who are trained to memorise facts rather than to think creatively and have some fun during their school years.
There is surely more to life than spending their energy and time studying all the time.
School life is not always about doing homework, attending tuition classes and revising for their exams just to get to the top.
No wonder our children are getting so stressed and exhausted nowadays.
