Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
WHAT Astro needs is a major revamp. Growing complacent because of the monopoly it enjoys, it is getting from bad to worse in many areas. Let me highlight a few.
One is the choice of channels banded as a package. There are only two of us in the house and we are both retirees. My wife loves to watch the serials over Sun TV. Unfortunately, this channel is lumped together with Chutti TV, which shows only cartoons and children’s programmes. This channel is a complete waste but if you want Sun TV, you must subscribe to Chutti TV as part of the package.
The sports channels show too much of non-popular games that run for hours. There was a day when golf was on three of the sports channels at the same time, although there is a designated channel for golf.
Finally, the endless repeats and commercials. When Astro started, it promised “no adverts”. Viewers understand that commercials provide huge revenue but it is unbelievable that they are shown 10 times during live transmission of events.
Astro can start by doing a survey on what viewers want. Reinvent and become a more people-friendly provider.
