I AM saddened to read the statement by Datuk Gopal Sri Ram that Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia does not offer company law as one of its core subjects (”Judge: Many lawyers clueless” — NST, May 26).

This, however, is entirely baseless as company law is and has always been one of the core subjects in UKM.

The objective of writing this letter is not to have him apologise over the misstatement.

Instead, it is my intention to remind him to be mindful when making such statements as he could damage the reputation of a local institution of higher learning.
