Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
I AGREE with Chris G of Butterworth about the indiscriminate jacking-up of prices of toast (up 10 sen), drinks (up 10 to 30 sen per cup/glass) and noodles (up 50 sen per plate). (”Increase is simply not justified” — NST, June 23.)
Our kopitiam group has come up with a way to beat these unscrupulous business people at their game, without forfeiting our regular cuppa and social bonding: we made the home of our most senior member a second coffee shop of sorts.
With a pack of 15 (1 sachet to 1 cup of coffee) priced at just RM3.30, the cost per cup comes to only 22 sen, compared with 90 sen at the coffees shops here.
Toast translates into 15 sen per slice, with a loaf of white bread at RM2.70 giving us an average of 18 slices.
We enjoy huge savings!
We may just invite our kopitiam proprietor to our “coffee shop” to try our coffee.
