CRASH HELMETS: Rethink exemption
30Jun2008 NSTI SUGGEST that the authorities rethink the exemption given to haji, hajjah and lebai from wearing crash helmets.
An unsecured serban is not going to give adequate protection to a motorcyclist in the event of an accident.
While wearing the serban is a sunnah of the Prophet, it is not wrong to remove it while riding a motorcycle for safety reasons.
It is not a prohibition from keeping to the sunnah, but only a safety measure.
