Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
“WE LEAVE the trees till they get old and rot. The trees die and fall and this affects the growth of others.” This shocking and mind-boggling statement was said by the mentri besar of Kedah in defence of logging in the state.
The Muda forest reserve is a few thousand years old. If the MB leaves the forest alone, it will still be there for another thousand years. Doesn’t the MB know that when a tree dies in the forest, the fallen tree will decay and add nutrients to the soil? A fallen tree will be a home to millions of insects, small animals and reptiles.
Once a forest is logged, not only the trees disappear but so will all the insects, small animals and reptiles .
The forest must be kept for future generations. The Kedah government must be more proactive. There are other ways and means to earn income for the state.
