Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
I AM appalled by Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar’s explanation on the closure of the police beat base in Lorong Haji Taib, Kuala Lumpur (“Syed Hamid
explains again base closure” — NST, Nov 7).
How could he make such a glaring mistake? It’s the duty of the minister to check and confirmthe answer before delivering it in Parlia - ment. It’s negligence, and not a mistake, to give that wrong answer to Pa r l i a m e n t . In fact, the misleading answer in Parliament can be referred to the relevant committee for disciplinary action. It also shows the weaknesses of the ministry, especially in infor mation-gathering. I hope that the government learns a lesson from this error. All parties must take all statements and answers in Parliament seriously and dutifully.
