Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
I REFER to your report “4.4pc better results ‘no proof of success’” (NST, Nov 15).
There is a need for a consistent policy on the use of English for teaching Mathematics and Science for the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) level in Malaysia, regardless of the outcome of the 2008 UPSR results.
The shifting of goalposts on the English policy must end immediately.
Either Malay or English will be used as the medium of instruction; there is no need for any further debate or argument.
Between confusion and consistency, the latter is very much preferred.
It is hoped that when theultimate decision is made, the use-English policy should no longer be opened up for subsequent meddling by any party.
