Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
LAST Sunday, I watched the four finalists — Cassie, Wana, Hairi and Nashrin — singing their hearts out competing with each other for the RM100,000 grand prize on TV3’s reality talent show My Starz LG.
Three artistes — Jamal Abdillah, Sarah Raisuddin and Asmawi Ani @ Mawi — were invited to do a duet number with them. Mawi did not show up. The absence of Mawi disappointed his legion of fans, who came to see him duet with one of the finalists.
Mawi should have honoured his commitment to appear at the grand finale as I am sure the producers of My Starz LG had informed him days in advance of the invitation.
Even special guest artiste Rossa, the Indonesian singer who is famous for her song Ayat-ayat Cinta, made it all the way from Indonesia.
Whatever the reason given or however busy he was, Mawi should have appeared on the show that night. I am no fan of his but he could have at least spared a thought for diehard fans who came to see him perform. I really hope that the popularity he gained all these years since he came out tops in Akademi Fantasia in 2005 has not gone to his head.

Mawi’s perceived success has long gone to his head. IMO he is way overrated, and no longer the same down to earth humble person he was portrayed as when he first won AF.
