Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
HEALTH Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai’s plan to expand the list of no-smoking zones to cover more public places is commendable. (”More no-smoking zones soon” — NST, April 25.)
I am tired of people’s disregard of the law. More so, the attitude of the educated.
Recently, I noticed two men smoking in a city restaurant.
From the files on the table and their attire, I noted that they were lawyers. It is sad that even professionals do not respect the law.
I alerted the cashier. He appeared none too pleased with my observation. Nor did he caution the offenders.
I suggest that enforcement officers do spot checks on restaurants and workplaces and book the bosses for non-compliance, instead of the offenders.
The media should highlight punishments meted out to serve as a deterrent.
