Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
I REFER to the article on swine flu in the opinion pages of the NST yesterday, in which it was stated that “Mexico’s government is taking a laid-back stand”.
I must contradict this assertion. Mexico has applied a comprehensive strategy with a strong prevention component, oriented towards avoiding the transmission of the virus AH1N1.
Many measures are being adopted, such as the suspension of school and public activities to prevent the spread of the virus.
Federal and state authorities and institutions are working hand in hand to diagnose and treat infected patients with anti-virus medicine.
The population has been attentive to the information flow generated by the government through the media.
The people have acted in a responsible and cooperative manner.
Additionally, Mexico is working with the World Health Organisation and the governments of countries that have registered cases of the flu to share information available worldwide.
