I CANNOT agree more with the views expressed by Prakash Thangaraj of Sitiawan, (”Can’t we all just get along?” — NST, May 4) that achieving Vision 2020 should be every Malaysian’s dream.

Vision 2020 contains broad policy directions in creating a developed nation economically, politically, spiritually, psychologically and culturally. One of the most important issues emerging from the central challenges outlined is racial harmony. This issue stems from the challenge concerning the development of a united, peaceful, integrated and harmonious nation.

History has demonstrated that the establishment of a united Malaysian society is a pre-condition to development.

In pursuit of excellence, high ethical standards and in tandem with the 1Malaysia concept and spirit, we should work towards achieving an ethically integrated society living in harmony.
