YOUR report “Tax refund cheques recalled over glitch” (NST, June 5) is cause for concern. This is apparently not the first time the Inland Revenue Board has recalled its refund cheques.

I understand that last year cheques were also recalled because the issuing bank had issued the cheques in duplicate numbers, causing the cheque-clearing system to reject them. Such simple mistakes have caused a lot of inconvenience to taxpayers.
