Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
KL SENTRAL is a milestone in our transportation network, serving as a train hub fully equipped with flight check-in services. I remember the days when it first began operating. The atmosphere was lively and the outlook modern. The setting and design was close to what you would get at KLIA. It indeed made me proud to be Malaysian.
Sadly, the station now looks old and dirty. Probably no one is bothered, but as a citizen I feel I have to say something.
First off, the air-conditioning is no longer good. It is often very warm within the premises especially in front of the KTM and Kelana Jaya Line entrance. Though there are air-cond ducts around the station, only less dense areas are cool enough to be considered acceptable.
The station’s overall look is a mess due to uncontrolled signage. There no longer seems to be a single design theme. Cafes and shops all put up their own colourful signage of different sizes. Even the station’s direction signages look old and dull, and often get drowned out by other commercial signage.
Third, there are just too many standalone kiosks being opened. While they are no doubt revenue for the management, it is also the management’s duty to upkeep the station’s image and prestigious look, considering that it is surrounded by some of KL’s top corporate office buildings. Most of these island stalls sell random items which are just not in keeping with KL Sentral’s stature.
Much of the station walls, ceiling and metal structures are covered in thick dust, which contributes to the overall dull look. I’m sure many commuters would agree. Let KL Sentral not come to look like Puduraya!
