I READ with utter disgust and the utmost anger the contents of the letters “BTN hate mongers still at it” (Dec 28) and “BTN deaf and blind to criticism” (Dec 29).

I spoke to my friend’s son, a medical graduate from Russia, who too attended the said programme, and he confirmed the allegations to be true. But he told me to let it go for fear of being blacklisted if I wrote to the press.

As a Muslim, I too am offended and ashamed of BTN instructors who continue to hurl racist insinuations and insults at my fellow Malaysian brothers and sisters.

I must salute Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, the only minister in the current cabinet who admitted that the BTN programme is indeed racist and outdated. Kudos to you YB.

The rest of them, including our beloved former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, seemed to be living in denial.

On behalf of all faithful and honest Muslims worldwide, I wish to offer my profound and sincere apologies to my fellow Malaysian brethren who had to endure pain inflicted by irresponsible BTN facilitators.

I appeal to all participants of the said BTN programme to come forward and write in to the press and the chief secretary to the government, Tan Sri Sidek Hassan (sidek@pmo.gov.my) and express your feelings, views and sentiments so that he can take the necessary corrective and preventive measures.

The Almighty Allah condemns such irresponsible and despicable actions.
