Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
I REFER to “The 20 top schools” (Front page, Jan 26). I am appalled that these schools will be granted slightly less than RM1 million each.
I’m all for pumping more money into the education system. But to give the funds to schools which have excellent facilities and are already well-funded defeats the purpose of narrowing the gap among schools.
It is high time the Education Ministry did something to ensure all children have equal access to quality education. As long as schools need to collect fees and money from parents and guardians, there will be inequities in the education system.
Shouldn’t all schools have the same opportunity and level playing field? The idea that top schools will set an example to other schools is unacceptable. How can they follow in the footsteps when they don’t have the means to do so?
