Current issues, feedback & complaints on public services in Malaysia
OUR attention has been drawn to the column “Peace in an imperfect world” (What They Say, Feb 23) where the following quotes refer to us:
“Chong: So when it was shot down in Feb 2005, the IFC took another form, morphing itself into the Malaysian Consultative Council. And because there were no Muslim representatives, it became the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism. Mohan: Had Muslims been represented, the council would just be called the Malaysian Consultative Council, an idea that is being bandied about now.”
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and Sikhism (MCCBCHS) was in fact registered with the Registrar of Societies on Aug 6, 1983, and when the Federation of Taoist Associations Malaysia formally joined us in 2006, we officially became the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST). Our registered name is in Bahasa Malaysia: Majlis Perundingan Agama Buddha, Kristian, Hindu, Sikh dan Tao.
Although there is no Islamic representation in MCCBCHST, we have been involved in
meetings with Islamic authorities as well as NGOs throughout our existence.
